Kogi Bailout Loan: Fani-Kayode Under Attack After Chiding Yahaya Bello’s Critics

Femi Fani-Kayode has come under scorching attack after he came out on Friday to lambast critics who allegedly condemned the Kogi State Government after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC accused the state government of misappropriating the N20 billion bail out fund from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG had reported that a Federal High Court had on Friday asked the bank involved which had masked the bailout fund in a mirror account to return it to the CBN after it was allegedly diverted into an interest bearing account.

The EFCC had moved upon an intelligence report that alleged that the Yahaya Bello government had diverted the money from the original purpose of paying off workers and diverted into an interest bearing account.

Following the bank’s disclosure and agreement that the money be returned to the CBN, and the EFCC’s decision not to press further charges, Fani-Kayode had come out in glee that his new found friend, Yahaya Bello had been exonerated.

Responding to Fani-Kayode on the hard words he used to hit at perceived critics of Yahaya Bello, many twitter users expressed disappointment with the former aviation minister who had in the past taken strong positions against the governor.

Withdrawing a case against someone doesn’t necessarily means the person is innocent or doesn’t commit the offence. It may depict that alot of behind the scenes negotiations, consultation and even bribery had taken place. So don’t sell the “innocence cake” to us.
