Festus Keyamo, Great Ogboru, and other elements in the Delta APC Leaders Council on Saturday stayed away as aides and associates of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege took effective control of the state executive of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State.

Veteran political strategist, Elder Omeni Sobotie emerged as chairman of the party replacing Prophet Jones Erue. Sobotie is also Special Adviser on Legislative and Plenary Matters and Political Affairs to Senator Omo-Agege.

Mr. Nick Ovuakporie who has acted as the director of publicity in the party and also special assistant to Omo-Agege is the new secretary of the party in the state.

Sobotie is from Delta Central while Ovuakporie is from Delta South.

Sobotie and Ovuakporie were among the 35 man executive that emerged at a rancour-free state congress held at the Federal College of Education, Asaba.

Besides Omo-Agege othes who witnessed the election included Senator Peter Nwaoboshi; a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor; Rep. Francis Waive, representing Udu/Ughelli constituency at the House of Representatives; among others.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the absence of Keyamo, Ogboru and other elements aligned to them was not shocking given the history of hostility between the two groups.

The election of the 35 man executive was by consensus though the chairman o the Congress Committee, Senator Ajibola Bashiru insisted on a vote to abide by the party’s constitution.

Sobotie while thanking party delegates for their support said that the new state executive would work to ensure the victory of the party in the forthcoming governorship election in Delta State.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that no other party had before now won the governorship election in the state, a fact that makes it that Mr. Sobotie has his job cut out for him.
