The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Edo North has resolved to punish party members who orchestrated the ill-fated plot to suspend Chief Dan Orbih and a number of party chieftains from the party.

The resolution by elected party officials from Edo North with state and national officers in attendance was adopted at the quarterly meeting of the Senatorial Zone at the Agenebode country home of High Chief Raymond Dokpesi.

The resolution came after a group of party men met and adopted a resolution to suspend Orbih, the national vice-chairman, South-South of the party alongside some other senior party officials including the State Secretary Chief Hillary Otsu, the Senatorial Chairman Hon. Segun Saiki and five LGA Chairmen from the zone.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the suspension was adopted by a group of party stakeholders assembled by Governor Godwin Obaseki.

However, the action has been dismissed as inconsequential and illegal by official organs of the party including the state chapter of the party and the national leadership of the party.

In a communique issued at the end of the quarterly Senatorial Meeting  attended by the National Vice Chairman, Chief Dan Orbih, the Edo North Member of BOT  Chief Raymond Dokpesi, State Working Committee members from the zone (State Secretary Chief Hillary Otsu and State Auditor Dr. Wilson Imongan, all the LGA and Ward Chairmen from the zone, as well as 2 leaders representing each ward issued by the Assistant Secretary, it was also resolved to pass a vote of confidence on Orbih.

The meeting also passed a vote of confidence on State Secretary Chief Hillary Otsu, Senatorial Chairman Segun Saiki, LGA Chairmen: Akoko Edo – Kayode Ogunnubi; Etsako Central – Kassim Abdulkarim; Etsako East – Vincent Umoru Ekpemoriri; Etsako West – Hon. Vatsa; Owan West – David Arizona Aigbodioh.

In the communique issued by Baba Sheriff Idenobemhe, assistant secretary, Edo North, the elected party officials resolved among others that:

“That the tenets and constitution of the PDP shall be upheld at all times in all party activities, especially with regards to the illegal meetings being held in some constituencies claiming to “harmonise” LGA and Ward Excos.

“It was noted that if Chief Dan Orbih was originally involved in the negotiations for Governor Obaseki’s adoption, the process would have been better managed and the current imbroglio would have been averted.”
