Reactions Trail Confirmation Of Lekki Toll Gate Massacre by Judicial Panel

Reactions have continued to trail the report of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on Restitution for victims of SARS-related abuses and other matters where it stated that the Nigerian Army shot and killed unarmed protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on October 20, 2020.

The panel headed by retired Lagos state judge, Justice Doris Okwubi (rtd) in its findings confirmed that the Nigeria Army and police shot and killed innocent protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate on the 20th of October, 2020.

Following the release of the report, Nigerians took to social media to heave a heavy sigh of relief, following the denial of the Buhari-led administration that a massacre took place at the toll gate. With Minister of Information, Alh Lai Mohammed, famously referring to the incident as a phantom massacre without blood and bodies.

Reactions ranged from relief to anger, with some having special words for the Lekki Massacre deniers.

The findings of the Lagos #Endsars Panel are damning. It established the fact that the army led by Lt Col Bello was at Lekki Gate on the night of the massacre. The Panel finds that live rounds were shot directly at protesters resulting in "mass casualty"

Lekki Toll Gate: Army Killed Unarmed Protesters – Lagos Panel

There was a massacre of #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate by Nigerian Military operatives and the Nigerian Police Force on the 20th of October, 2020.

After reading the damning Lagos State #EndSARS Panel Report, I believe these should happen:

•Prosecution of officers involved in murder/brutality of armless citizens

•Compensation/justice for victims

•An unreserved apology by the government.

I love how the Lagos #EndSARS panel deliberately differentiated the actual protest 8th-20th October 2020 from the the army and police-induced, miscreants-led rioting and lootings that happened after 20-10-2020 in its report.
