How Ronaldo, Maguire, Other Man United Players Reacted To Solskjaer’s Sack

Cristiano Ronaldo, Captain Harry Maguire and other Manchester United players have taken to social media to react to the dismissal of Ole Gunner Solskjaer on Sunday.

The under-pressure boss was finally given his marching orders the morning after United fell to a shocking 4-1 defeat at the hands of newly-promoted Watford. This loss followed similarly awful displays against Leicester City, Liverpool and Man City in recent weeks.

These results have left United eighth in the Premier League and ultimately cost Solskjaer his job.

Although performances have been poor this season, the Norwegian has always enjoyed a strong relationship with his squad and a host of players took to social media to pay tribute.

Cristiano Ronaldo tweeted: “He’s been my striker when I first came to Old Trafford and he’s been my coach since I came back to Man. United. But most of all, Ole is an outstanding human being. I wish him the best in whatever his life has reserved for him.

Bruno Fernandes, who attempted to deflect some of the travelling support’s criticism away from Solskjaer at Vicarage Road, reasserted the message that everyone at the club was responsible for the current mess.

“Like I said yesterday we all are to blame for the situation we are in and considering everything you’ve done for me a thank you will never be enough,” he wrote on Instagram.

“But I’m very grateful for you believing in me and for giving me the chance to represent this club.
I wish you and your family all the best! Good luck, my friend! You deserve it!”

Harry Maguire, who Solskjaer made United captain, also gave his thoughts.

“You signed me for the best club in the world and gave me the biggest honour in football. Huge respect and forever grateful. Thank you for everything boss. Legend,” he tweeted.

David de Gea wrote: “You always gave everything and everyone knows you are a legend at Manchester United,” while Marcus Rashford – who Solskjaer said needed to prioritise football earlier this season – called him a “club legend”.

Mason Greenwood added: “Thank you for everything boss.”
