Adeboye Mum As RCCG Members Banter Over Christian Dating Site

Controversy over the propriety of using the leverage of the ‘world system’ in finding a marriage partner has broken out among members of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG following the establishment of a Christian Dating Site by one of the leading parishes of the Pentecostal Church.

It recently emerged that a dating site for singles to intermingle was established by the City of David Parish, a leading parish of the church headquartered in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Among those who have attacked the move is Leke Adeboye, a son of the General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye. Leke Adeboye in a series of pictures on his Instagram page advanced the old-style religion of following the lead of God in finding the will of God for marriage.

His series on marriages themed ‘Seeds connecting with Seeds’ got a response from many who backed him on the basis.

There were, however, several others who backed the dating site with one saying that a dating site was the same as a singles fellowship.

There were also several commentators, notably ladies who sought to be immediately enrolled into the dating site.

The controversy over the dating site comes as debate echoes for the church in Nigeria to follow the lead of modernity so called that has been set by funky churches in the United States of America.

Meanwhile, the revered leader of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye is yet to comment on the development and it has not been confirmed if the City of David got his approval for the establishment of the site.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered some of the reactions to the debate on social media.

A dating app for Christian is not a bad idea. I like the idea. Let’s have a platform that supports our beliefs. #weriseupbyliftingothers #togtherwearestronger

Thank you for saying that…I have always known that city of David was “somehow”

I don’t know what to say . My views is that even if you meet on a dating site . You still need to pray and let the Holy Spirit guild . The site is just a place to meet and not final say on marriage.

Louder Sir… Holy Spirit does the work… Marriage is spiritual… It is wrong for Church to even start dating app… how insulting to an institution created and ordained by God. It might work for some but will damage a lot of people. Pls let’s stick to Gods principles…

We should really have a debate about dating apps, especially those run by credible organisations

Most of us have closed mindset ! Why are we so rigid when it comes to dating, courtship and marriage ? We are eager to embrace new innovation gadget! I leave the rest for you to figure it out . Anyway, Christian dating app is already in existence in western world

The intention around starting a christian dating App may be good…but in the long run, the chances of things getting out of control and misuse is high. Whereas, some people will find perfect and genuine partners through the platform, it will cause damage to many because of weak spiritual foundation in their match making process. This is my humble opinion and may God continue to guide our leaders right.

I don’t think it should be initiated…are we saying God doesn’t give out spouses again? This movement should be discouraged. What’s the Godly purpose initiating the app? To date? You’ll be shocked how lots of people will start taking Christian dating for granted and gradually we won’t be able to recognize the use to going to God in prayers for the right live partner.

Hmmm dating app. The world do it and now we Christians want to do it. At what point do we separate from the world. At what point???? Abeg where in the bible did dating app surface. Hmmmm. We should be mindful as Christians what we participate in. Not every thing going around is ok for us. We are in the world but not of the world. Peace.

@mightyoak12 exactly you hit the nail. If it can be regulated. Even the social media we are on now you see the hate and evil that goes on there. It is well

The church is becoming too worldly these days?? most of us have forgotten God’s standard

The main issue here is DATING. I have read RCCG Intending couple manual and the word DATING was not used. The word there is COURTSHIP. The word DATING needs clarification hence we lead many astray. May God have His way.

In my own opinion, marriage is spiritual and it is not something you should use your human wisdom for, because dating is not even enough for you to get married to someone as people change after marriage. Let God guide you and choose for you because he sees the future and knows the very end.

It is an area one needs to be spiritually sensitive about. In all these, we should not forget that Abraham told his servant to go to a specific place and look for a wife for his son Isaac. Esther too was arranged for the king.
