Kano state governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has eulogized the late military governor of the state Brig Audu Bako, describing him as an architect of sustainable leadership worthy of emulation by today’s leaders.

He further stated that late governor Audu Bako, who was the state governor during the Gen. Yakubu Gowan administration (1966-1975), out of patriotism left behind good legacies for humanity.

Ganduje stated these on Monday while delivering an address at the presentation of a book, ‘Kano Under The Administration Of Audu Bako’, written by Aisha Ni’ima Shehu of the Department of History Bayero University, Kano.

“To me after reading the book, I think the book is much more than a historical document, is much more than a text that contains signature projects for the development of Kano state and beyond, but it is also a documentation of what is meant by an authentic leadership.

“Leadership that is focused, a leadership with signature projects and a leadership with sustainable arrangements. That is why we have gotten so many projects because of the inbuilt sustainability. We thank the author for this good work.

“There is no doubt late Audu Bako is a great leader, a great governor of the late Kano and Jigawa states.

“His projects and programs are so many that one will find it extremely difficult to forget them. But one most important thing is the laying of foundation for the economic growth of Kano.

Audu Bako will always be remembered as a great leader with leadership with sustainability” Ganduje said.

Speaking on the book, Ganduje described the book as one for all Nigerians saying, “it is a book that portrays good leadership architecture.

The governor further contributed the sum of N10 million to the publisher, promising to discuss possibility of getting copies of the book onto the library shelves of schools and institutions.

Earlier in his address, one of the two surviving members of the Audu Bako administration and a leading business personality in Kano, Aminu Dantata, who was a commissioner for Economic Development,  begged Nigerian leaders to fear God and look at how the people are surviving especially with the abundance of natural resources.

He further contributed N5 million to the book project and N15 million to the family.

Also speaking on behalf of the Audu Bako family, Arch Audu Bako thanked the author for a job well done.
