Supporters of the Senator Ovie Omo-Agege inspired leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Delta State were rejoicing on Wednesday after a move to annul the recently conducted congresses that enthroned the yet to be inaugurated executives was stopped by an Asaba High Court.

Honourable Justice G. B. Briki-Okolosi of the Delta State High Court sitting in Asaba struck out the case filed as Suit No. A/139/2021 which had specifically sought to nullify the last ward, Local Government and State congresses conducted by the APC in the state.

The judge struck out the suit on the premise that the issues in contention were not justiciable being the internal affairs of the APC.

In the words of His Lordship, the “Court would have ordinarily asked the Plaintiff to go and refile their pleadings but the matter is not justiciable as it is an internal affair of the Political Party (APC)”. He therefore proceeded to strike out the case.

The judge also held that the case was incurably defective having been commenced by means of Originating Summons instead of Writ of Summons, as the issues raised were manifestly contentious.

The court’s decision is a breather for the incoming state executive under the chairmanship of Elder Omeni Sobotie and other structures in that tendency of the party that is inspired by the Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the court case was filed by a group in the Delta APC comprising : Chukwusa  Edafe Matthew & 14 others who are believed to be sympathetic to the APC Council of Elders led by the minister of state for labour and employment, Olorogun Festus Keyamo.

The Keyamo group also includes notable party chieftains including Olorogun Great Ogboru, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Engr. Victor Ochei, Dr. (Mrs.) Mariam Ali, Dr. Alex Ideh among others who had vowed not to kowtow to Omo-Agege.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that before Wednesday’s court judgment the two camps were locked in a war of words after Keyamo described the yet to be inaugurated executive across all levels as comprising of Omo-Agege’s house boys and house girls.

The mainstream of the party had in a fiery response accused Keyamo of being a WhatsApp politician.
