Controversy As Muslim Zealots Hit Mo Salah On Christmas Tree Pics

Published

on

A family Christmas tree photo from Liverpool and Egypt star Mohammed Salah has sparked furious reactions from some Muslims on Twitter.

The photo which shows Salah, his wife and two kids sitting by a Christmas tree, dressed in matching outfits drew heavy criticism from some Muslims who said it is against Islam to celebrate Christmas.

The reaction from the anti-Christmas crowd sparked a counter-reaction from other Muslims and Twitter users, who defended Salah’s actions.

Some were at a loss as to why celebrating Christmas as a Muslim is bad, while some others said excused his actions, saying as a global football star, he has fans who are Christians, so celebrating with them on their special day is good.

Here are some reactions gathered by GreenWhiteGreen

These anti-christmas crowd slammed Mo Salah for the Christmas tree photo

@Ababanani Shame on u Muhammad Salah wlh it’s forbidden for a Muslim to eat Christmas food or accept any other type of Christmas gift from ahlul kitab on the day of christmas so why are u help them to celebrate this day?

@maskmanatfinest If I was the head of Egypt Football Association or president of FIFA, I would ban @MoSalah for life just for this without any appeal. If the media asked me why I did that, I’ll just simply reply “Personal reason”

@Abdishugrimoha3 You are not a role model. We will imitate you as a Muslim but we will not imitate you in celebrating Christmas. I hope you will not celebrate again.

@5wilb_ You are said to be the pride of the Arabs! No, this title is more honorable than you

@hoskemodel this is against your faith learn the basics of your religion learn taoheed everyone criticizing you are the ones who really love you

@MohiTawfik Do Christians celebrate Eid al Addha? Eid al fittr?

These other user threw their support behind Salah for his Christmas tree photo

@KenMadoh I don’t understand why some Muslims are angry at Mo Salah for wishing us a Merry Christmas when most of us Christians also wish them to have a wonderful Ramadan, please can any of y’all Muslim explain it to me why is it a problem. Isn’t that hate?

@Claudine_90 What’s wrong with celebrating Christmas? It’s nothing haram and Allah won’t punish you for it. You’re in fact doing good deeds and once anyways. The Quran also states you should believe in all 4 books (Bible included). There’s too much close mindedness in this it pisses me off

@tofunmi_vet Mo Salah or anybody celebrating Christmas doesn’t mean a single thing if you don’t know the reason for Christmas. If you don’t believe Jesus Christ is the son of God and he was born, died and resurrected, and is the savior of mankind then your celebration is of no use.

@kinsilee_ks I tell people, remove religion from this world and the world will be a better place. Imagine so much hate @MoSalah because celebrate with the Christians. Look, there is nothing in this life, celebrate whenever and however you like. Since ur celebration isn’t taking anybody’s life

@X2sl2 Us Muslims we believe that Allah is only one he has no son or whatever and Christmas is against this idea despite the fact the celebrating a birthday is haram Basically it doesn’t necessarily means we hate each other.. it just something prohibited in our religion and respect that

@smak1970 From one Muslim to another, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas, Mo. This was mine!

@Mobyhaque1 I absolutely love this. Mo Salah is a great example of someone who creates bridges while not caring about the noise. The world needs more Mo Salahs

@Donny2k0 Not a bunch of strangers telling a 30 year old man what he can and can’t celebrate. He’s clearly a well devoted Muslim but he wants to relate to his fans as well as let his kids be involved in what all there class mates celebrate

@KayleerHayley So because he said Merry Christmas he is a bad Muslim? No matter how much of a good person he is…. That is enough alone to make him bad? I don’t get it

@AsuoTanoh The only understanding I get from this is MoSalah fanbase are only Muslims but if no then can’t he wish his fanbase by decorating his house just to make them happy. He is a global super star,I understand your religion frowns on it but pls this one belongs to the fans.

@MickeyJnrTZ As someone who is close to the Muslim faith – I congratulate Mohammed Salah for showing compassion and love and being part of the faith of prophet Issa (jesus). You are either my brother in faith or my EQUAL in humanity Ali Ibn Abi Taalib.
