Mutters As Delta APC Chief Rejects Omo-Agege’s Christmas Rice

The intractable crisis in the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC has defied the peace-making mood of the yuletide season as a chieftain of the party in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Ufuoma Deniran, reportedly returned a 25kg bag of Christmas rice offered by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege.

Omo-Agege, the deputy president of the Senate is the leader of the mainstream of the party in the state.

Deniran, like some other party chieftains including Olorogun Festus Keyamo, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, Eng. Victor Ochei, Dr. Alex Ideh, Mrs Mariam Ali, among others are peeved over the outcome of the last congresses which they claim led to the emergence of only associates of Omo-Agege in all positions.

“You give and accept gifts from loved ones and not from those who don’t want things to be done in the right way. I have long sent this signal”, Deniran reportedly said in a statement made available to journalists in Warri on Wednesday.

It was learnt that the bag of rice was reportedly delivered to Deniran’s rice by the Ethiope East LGA Secretary of the Sobotie-led Exco of the APC, Blessing Etaghene, while he (Deniran) was away in Benin.

Deniran was reported to have immediately returned the bag of rice from Omo-Agege to Etaghene’s office.

However, Omo-Agege’s liaison officer Chuks Erhire was unmoved by the development saying that it was within Chief Deniran’s right to accept or reject the Christmas rice gift.

Erhire told newsmen that there were several people on the ground itching to receive the Christmas rice gift from Senator Omo-Agege with joy and gratitude.

“It is not compulsory that he should accept it. If he doesn’t want it he should bring it. We have people who desperately need it”, Erhire said.
