The Many Clubs, Countries That Sacked New Super Eagles Boss, Jose Peseiro

The appointment of newly appointed Super Eagles boss, Jose Peseiro has been met with pessimism from Nigerian football fans, stakeholders, and if reports are accurate, some NFF Technical Committee members were shocked by his appointment given that he has been sacked in many clubs and countries.
All parties have highlighted his poor managerial record through his widely-traveled career.
Following the outcry, GreenWhiteGreen dug into Jose Peseiro’s career to see the teams where he was either sacked or resigned due to poor results.
The find was staggering, what are the odds the Super Eagles would be added to this list soon?
Here is a list of the clubs
Assistant Manager Real Madrid
Jose Peseiro started his managerial career as an assistant to Carlos Queiroz in the 2003-04 season at Real Madrid. Following the capitulation of the team’s considerable lead in the LaLiga race that ended in rivals, Valencia wining the league, that session, the pair were fired that season.
Sporting Lisbon (Resigned)
Jose Peseiro returned to native Portugal to manage Sporting Lisbon in the 2004-05 season, where the highlight of his career was a UEFA Cup (now Europa League) runner-up spot.
Following a string of shocking defeats in the Champions League, UEFA Cup and Portuguese Liga in the 2005-06 season, Peseiro resigned in October.
Panathinaikos (Forced to step down)
Peseiro journeyed his way to Greece in 2007 to manage Panathinaikos, following his failure to win the league and a loss to bitter rivals Olympiakos, he was forced to resign.
Rapid Bucuresti
Next on his journey was a move to Romania to manage Rapid Bucaresti in 2008, where he was fired after being eliminated from the UEFA Cup by Wolfsburg.
Luck was on his side as he was reinstated a few days later.
He would later step down in January 2009 after failing to agree to a new deal with the club.
Saudi Arabia
Peseiro moved to Saudi Arabia in 2009, where he failed to qualify the side for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
After an opening loss to Syria in the Asia Cup in January 2011, he was fired.
Braga
Peseiro returned to Portugal where he was appointed as Braga manager in June 2012. He took them to the Champions League for the second time in their history.
Despite winning the League Cup and finishing fourth, both parties agreed to terminate his contract in 2013
Al Ahly
Peseiro had his first African experience with the Egyptian side Al Ahly in 2015, following fans’ protest over his poor record, he left despite an impressive spell where he won 8 games, lost two, and drew as many.
Porto
Peseiro returned to Portugal where he replaced Julen Lopetegui in January 2016, he was relieved of his duties at the end of the season. He recorded more losses than his predecessor and lost the League Cup to former side Braga.
Braga
Peseiro returned to Braga in June 2016 but was fired in December of the same year following elimination from the Europa League and Portuguese Cup.
Sharjah FC
He moved to Dubai in January 2017 to take charge of Sharjah FC, where he was fired nine months after a poor start to the new season
Vitoria SC
Peseiro set his sights for Portugal again, where he was appointed to manage Vitoria Setubal in February 2018, but rescinded his contract midway into it.
Sporting Lisbon
Peseiro returned for a second spell with Sporting in July 2018, but as usual, he didn’t last long and was fired on the 1st of November of the same year.
Venezuela
Peseiro made another foray into international management with Venezuela in February 2020, where he was eliminated at the Group Stage of the 2021 Copa America.
He would later resign in August, citing unpaid wages for over a year as his reason.
