Confusion In Delta As Osinbajo’s Foot Soldiers Scatter Tinubu’s Plans

Confusion has broken out in the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC after foot soldiers of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo appeared to break the once impregnable hold of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu on the party structure in the state.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Tinubu’s long fraternization with the Delta APC structure through the camp of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege weakened last weekend after Rep. Francis Waive, the only APC member of the House of Representatives from the state endorsed Osinbajo.

In endorsing Osinbajo, Waive said that the Vice President has displayed all the character traits of a good leader, saying that he has been a trustworthy and loyal deputy to President Muhammedu Buhari.

While also affirming that no one in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP can match Osinbajo, Waive said that the incumbent vice-president has proven capacity to turn the fortunes of this country around building on the foundation laid by the present administration.

The endorsement immediately raised speculations as to the intentions of Omo-Agege whose loyalists had until now been widely reported to be inclined towards Tinubu. The confusion was given that Waive is a principal figure in the inner caucus of the Omo-Agege team.

 GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that before now, the main opposition to Tinubu in Delta had come from the Rotimi Amaechi tendency which is strongly fanned in the state by his foot soldiers as led by Olorogun Festus Keyamo.

It is alleged that the war of attrition between the Keyamo and Omo-Agege camps had been fanned by the interests of their patrons towards 2023.

While many Omo-Agege foot soldiers had in the last few months been preparing for a full lunch of the Tinubu campaign, GreenWhiteGreen GWG gathered that in recent days messages of a new direction had been sweeping through the ranks intimating of a new direction towards Osinbajo.

Waive’s statement endorsing Osinbajo seemed to have changed all the permutations for Tinubu in Delta State.

“I didn’t believe it myself when I saw the statement until I saw it on the Facebook wall of his senior aide,” a high level APC source told  GreenWhiteGreen GWG.

Another high level source in the party said on Monday that the music appeared to have changed. “I think the message of the Omo-Agege team has changed given the latest developments especially with the statement by Waive.”

Waive represents Ughelli North, Ughelli South & Udu Federal Constituency, which is widely regarded as Omo-Agege country being the federal constituency of the Deputy President of the Senate.
