A third force reckoning itself as the Restoration Agenda has emerged in the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

However, unlike the two dominant tendencies aligned to Senator Ovie Omo-Agege and Olorogun Festus Keyamo, the Restoration Agenda is not fighting for superiority, but rather preaching for unity between the two dominant tendencies.

APC chieftain and spokesman of the group, Prof. David Ejenobo, who addressed newsmen in Warri on Tuesday sounded a note of warning to the two factions to reconcile in the interest of the party saying “enough of the internal wrangling in Delta APC”.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the Delta State APC has been divided between the two major tendencies and the situation was worsened after the Omo-Agege tendency prevailed in the state congresses and took all positions.

The Keyamo faction which boycotted the congresses dismissed the congresses saying that Omo-Agege, the deputy president of the Senate filled the positions with his “aides, houseboys and house girls.”

However, the Restoration Agenda speaking through Ejenobo, a university don with the Delta State University, Abraka, affirmed that the APC was in a better position to win the state but only if the two factions decided to bury their differences.

“It’s the opinion of members of Restoration Agenda that the APC in Delta State is still very much alive and kicking in spite of the recent ugly developments,” he said in reference to the recent defections by some high level officials of the party to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

“We, therefore, affirm our commitment to the ideals of APC our neutrality in trying to fashion solutions to the prevailing circumstances.

“We, therefore, call on all our teaming APC members to remain steadfast and united in achieving the aims and objectives of the party in Delta State”, the group said.

“We suggest that the national leadership of the party should prevail on the leader of APC in Delta State and Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege to shift ground by accommodating major stakeholders who feel maginalsised and fenced out during the last congresses.

“By so doing, genuine reconciliation will not only take place but the party will be more united. If APC is to make an impact in 2023 elections, then this is the only path available to achieving that goal.”
