How ATM Fraudster Scammed Woman Of Gratuity

A 22-year-old serial ATM fraudster, Aliyu Abdullahi, of Kasuwar Mata, Funtua Local Government Area of Katsina State, has been arrested by the police for allegedly scamming a woman retiree of her gratuity, using her ATM card.

The suspect, who confessed to the crime, said he used part of the stolen money to buy himself a car and a motorcycle while he squandered the rest.

The serial ATM fraudster was said to have been arrested and arraigned in court severally for the same offence but yet continued in the act.

The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP. Isah Gambo, made the disclosure while parading the suspect before newsmen at the police command on Monday.

According to SP Gambo, “Based on a tip-off, the command succeeded in arresting Aliyu Abdullahi, aged 22 years of Kasuwar Mata, Funtua, Katsina State, a serial ATM fraudster, who specializes in defrauding unsuspecting members of the public through ATM swap.

“In the course of investigation, suspect confessed to have deceitfully swapped the ATM card of one Maryam Sale of Sharar Pipes, Katsina and withdrew all her life time savings, including her gratuity, the sum of one million, eight hundred and forty-six thousand naira (N1,846,000).

“The suspect, in the course of investigation confessed to committing the offence, saying that he bought one “Hennessy motor” at the rate of five hundred thousand naira and one motorcycle TVZ, at the rate of N323,000 naira. However, the sum of one hundred and fifty thousand naira cash was recovered in his possession. Investigation is ongoing,” Gambo said of his heist of scamming the Katsina woman of her gratuity using her ATM card.

Meanwhile, GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that over 50 residents of Ruwan Godiya village within Faskari Local Government Area of the state in a fresh attack that has compounded the security situation in the state.
