Premier League Awards: Key Facts As David De Gea Is Named Player Of The Month

The Premier league awards for the best performance in different categories were awarded for the month of January.
The first month of the new year in the Premier league was a firecracker. End-to-end battles, thrilling encounters and shocking results characterised the teams’ performances.
The Premier League Goal of the Month was awarded to Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic for his stunning volley at Stamford Bridge against rivals Liverpool. A goal which is also a contender for goal of the season and perhaps could be a potential Puskas award winning goal of 2022. Wolves’ head coach Bruno Lage was named Manager of the Month for January as his side went unbeaten throughout the month.
The highlight of their impressive run was a 0-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford, the first time they managed that since 1980. David De Gea scooped up the final award as he was named Premier League Player of the Month for January. His heroics in between the sticks have been the most impressive part of Manchester United’s season.
He was finally rewarded for his brilliant performances all through the season. Here are four key facts as David De Gea was named Player of the Month;
• David De Gea became the first goalkeeper to be named Premier League Player of the Month since February 2016.
• De Gea also became the 10th different goalkeeper in Premier League history to win the award.
• First Spanish player to be named Premier League Player of the Month since November 2016.
• The Spaniard made 22 saves in 4 games in January, more than any other goalkeeper in Europe’s top five leagues. He also prevented more goals than any other Premier League goalkeeper in this period.
