Tinubu Beats Osinbajo In Race To Get First Endorsement From Camp Buhari

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has beaten his former political protégé, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to grab the first endorsement from the inner circle of President Muhammadu Buhari. The development came after Bashir Ahmad, personal assistant to the president on digital and new media openly endorsed Tinubu.

It is the first time that a personal aide of the president would be making an open endorsement of any of the major presidential gladiators.

Asked of who he would support between Tinubu and former President Goodluck Jonathan, on Twitter, Ahmad easily said Tinubu.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Tinubu and Osinbajo are about the leading aspirants that are believed to have made approaches to the president and his inner circle for support but none of them had until now gotten such.

Political pundits believe that Buhari is opposed towards handing over to Tinubu and the president shied away from endorsing the former Lagos State governor when he came in January to formally inform him of his decision to vie for the presidency. The hesitance of the president is despite what many believe as the significant role Tinubu played in projecting the Buhari presidency in 2015 and 2019.

Osinbajo has also not fared any better in getting the public support of the president’s camp. That is especially given what some political pundits refer to as the trust deficit between the camps of the president and his vice president. The hesitance towards Osinbajo is also despite what many say that the vice-president remains about the best material that the All Progressives Congress, APC can present to defeat any candidate that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP may produce.

Bashir Ahmad’s endorsement of Tinubu, however, would be of little significance in the real sense given that he is a feeble factor in the political game going on to win the president’s support by the major aspirants.

Remarkably, when asked by another Twitter user on how he would throw his endorsement between Tinubu and Osinbajo, the Buhari aide was mum.
