2023: I Am Also A Youth, Tinubu Tells Supporters
Amid the clamour for a youth to take over from President Muhammadu Buhari, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has described himself as a youth.
Daily Trust reports that Tinubu who will be 70 next month made the claim during a recent meeting with supporters. The newspaper, however, did not report where and when the presidential hopeful made the assertion.
Tinubu had also been recently quoted as saying that the job of president that he is seeking was not one that requires physical power but brains.
Nevertheless, affirming that he has the energy to lead the country, Tinubu said he is capable of serving Nigeria and making the country great.
He told his supporters at the gathering that the APC will continue to protect the interest of Nigerians, home and abroad.
“I’m here standing before you… and I’m a youth,” Tinubu declared as his supporters cheered.
Ahead of the 2023 elections, Nigerian youths have been agitating that a younger person should take over from President Muhammadu Buhari.
Addressing this when he visited a South West monarch earlier in the month, Tinubu had said he wants the youths to be president of Nigeria, but that would happen after he has served as the president.
“If you become the President, you want to chase us from the streets? You’ll become old and be president but after me,” Tinubu had said.
Born on March 26, 1952, Tinubu will celebrate his 70th birthday in a few weeks.
