A new twist in the legal problems of the embattled  suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Abba Kyari emerged on Thursday as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA)  filed charges against him for drug trafficking. Kyari alongside six others were charged with six others.

The other Defendants are members of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) of the Inspector-General of Police, ACP Sunday J. Ubia, ASP Bawa James, Insp. Simon Agirigba and Insp. John Nuhu.

Others are the suspected drug traffickers that were arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport in Enugu, Chibunna Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Alphonsus Ezenwanne.

Thy will be arraigned before a Federal High Court in Abuja on March 7.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the move by the NDLEA came just as the Federal Government confirmed that it had started processing the request by the United States for the extradition of Abba Kyari where he is wanted for abating convicted felon, Rahmon Abbass popularly known as Hushpuppi.

Kyari was declared wanted by the NDLEA after it obtained a video footage of him negotiating a drug deal with its investigators.

The other defendants were arrested on January 19 at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu and that they have admitted being drug couriers.

With the filing of the charges, Abba Kyari is expected to wage his legal war on two fronts, battling extradition and fighting off going to a Nigerian jail via the charges now initiated by the NDLEA.
