Kwankwaso Serves Defection Notice To PDP

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the immediate past governor of Kano State has given notice of his imminent defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the New Nigeria People Party (NNPP).

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that one of Nigeria’s leading newspapers, Daily Trust had reported how Kwankwaso held talks with the leadership of NNPP a few days ago.

Confirming his imminent defection from the PDP, Kwankwaso in an interview with BBC Hausa, Kwankwaso said he would make known his political plans before the end of March.

Ahead of the planned defection, Kwankwaso had repeatedly flayed the two leading political parties in the country, that is the All Progressives Congress, APC and the PDP.

According to him the two parties have nothing to offer Nigeria in 2023.

“I didn’t see anything that either APC or PDP will show or tell Nigerians to get convinced and vote for them in the coming 2023 elections.”

“So I think people should now come to think of the right party and people to support and vote for so that we can rescue the present situation.

“In 2015, we gave the leadership of the state to some, thinking that they will make it, but not knowing that it won’t yield any positive outcome. That is why we are back to rescue our state,” Kwankwaso had said.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Kwankwaso was among those who shook the PDP to its root in 2013 when they announced their defection from the PDP to the new APC. He subsequently left the APC after the party came to power to the PDP.

The defection from the PDP is perceived in many quarters as amounting to the claim that Kwankwaso was not satisfied with the handling of the crisis in the party by the national leadership.
