Tottenham top four

Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Spurs have been far from convincing since the appointment of the Italian in November 2021 and now there are fears that the club may already be out of the way for a top four finish.

His tenure at the club has been blighted by inconsistency and that has cost them dearly as they are currently out of the race to win any trophy this season following their shock FA Cup exit to Championship side Middleborough on Tuesday and risk a spot for European football next season.

The former Chelsea and Inter manager enjoyed a decent start to his time at the North London club as they were unbeaten in his first nine games in charge in the Premier League, winning six and drawing three times.

However, since the turn of the new year, Conte’s men have fallen off the pace especially in recent weeks where their performances have been erratic. Knocked out of the EFL Cup by Chelsea in the semis, eliminated in the 5th Round of the FA Cup by Middleborough and currently 7th on the Premier League table, five points from 4th placed Manchester United.

Their recent outings have left Antonio Conte bewildered after he stated in a post match conference following their 1-0 loss to relegation threatened Burnley saying “Maybe I’m not good enough”. That assessment tells the whole story of Tottenham’s current situation.

A world class manager all through his career both Internationally and at club level, Antonio Conte’s early Tottenham career has been questioned but without doubt he is capable to turn things around for Spurs and probably deliver their first trophy in 14 years.
