It is estimated  that about pregnancy loss affects about 15 percent women who conceive all over the world with the losses coming either at birth or through miscarriage. While some of the causes are beyond control, some of the causes are preventable. Here are tips to avoid pregnancy loss in women.

Wash your hand always

There are several infections that can cause miscarriage, stillbirth, or infant death. The easiest way to avoid catching any of these viral or bacterial infections is to practice good hand hygiene and socially distance yourself from sick people.

Avoid smoking

Women who smoke are more likely to experience infertility and/or have a miscarriage, stillborn baby, preterm delivery or low birth weight infant. Infants born to women who smoke have a higher risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS).

Be careful in the kitchen

Usually, pregnant women are advised to be careful with foods that are  most likely source of bacteria like undercooked meat, it is  important for women to conduct themselves properly  while in the kitchen. For women who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, safe food handling is even more important than usual.

Discuss vaccination with your doctor

People with a covid-19 infection during pregnancy  may get sicker than others and are at higher risk to give birth prematurely. Take precautions to avoid contracting the virus, and discuss vaccination with your doctor.

Eat right

Eating a healthy diet isn’t just a concern for women trying to lose weight. Research has found that a diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can lower your risk of pregnancy complications.

Take your medications

Chronic health problems like diabetes and high blood pressure are all associated with increased chances of pregnancy loss. Therefore, for a safe pregnancy, don’t fail to consult your doctor and abide by his prescriptions.
