Ebelechukwu Bianca

The story of the fight between Ebelechukwu Obiano and Bianca Ojukwu at Prof Charles Soludo’s inauguration has gripped many, spurn many false narratives and brought the reign of the former first lady to a controversial end.

Many news outlets had reported that Ebelechukwu was the aggressor and slapped Bianca, a narrative that some said fitted into the description of the former first lady of being combative. However, GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that she was not the first to land a slap.

The former first lady had arrived quite late for the ceremony and her husband had left her behind and gone for the ceremony which proceeded without her.

Governor Charles Soludo had finished taking his oath when Ebelechukwu Obiano arrived at about 10.55 a.m.

Following instructions, security men had refused her entry as they had been given instructions not to allow late comers into the venue. After persistent efforts to get the security men to allow her in she had to follow a back entrance to enter into the venue.

After she entered she initially sat close to Speaker Uche Okafor of the Anambra State House of Assembly and Senator Uche Ekwunife. Whether she was uncomfortable sitting near Senator Ekwunife cannot be easily confirmed given past reports that the two ladies were engaged in a fight in Poland in the early years of the Obiano administration.

It was after those reports emerged of a fight between the two ladies that Ekwunife abandoned APGA and rejoined the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Senator Ekwunife has, however, never commented on the issue sitting near Ekwunife and the speaker, Mrs Ebelechukwu moved to sit beside her husband.

It was she was on her way to join her husband that she saw Bianca sitting and gestured to her telling her,  “You said we’re not going to be Governor, you ‘bitch.”.

Bianca Ojuwku who is said to be normally cool, however, did not take the insult with levity as she stood up and landed a slap on Ebelechukwu Obiano. In retaliation, Obiano’s wife held Bianca’s hair and dress but Bianca succeeded in pulling off Ebelechukwu’s wig as security operatives surrounded the two ladies.

Other security details were also shouting on journalists to stop recording the fight.

After this fight at the end of her reign as Anambra first lady, Ebelechukwu is preparing for another fight for the Anambra North Senatorial District where she is bound to engage another lady, Senator Stella Oduah following which she will face the likes of Dr Tony Nwoye, Mr John Emeka among others in the PDP if she gets the APGA ticket.
