Wreckage Of NAF Alpha Jet Found One Year After In Sambisa Forest

The wreckage of a Nigerian Air Force, NAF Alpha jet which went missing in March 2021 has been found in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, the Nigerian Army said on Saturday.

The debris according to the army statement was discovered by troops of Operation Desert Sanity who were on clearance patrol in the area.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that the aircraft (NAF 475), which had two crew members on board, went off the radar on March 31, 2021.

The statement read, “Troops of Operation Desert Sanity on clearance patrol in Sambisa Forest, Borno State, have uncovered the wreckage of crashed Alpha Jet aircraft (NAF475) that went off the radar with two crew members on 31 March 2021. Further exploitation (is) ongoing.”

The news that the wreckage of the missing NAF Alpha jet was found came with the news that motorists and commuters plying the busy Maiduguri-Damaturu road have expressed joy over improved security along the road.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the reduction in the incidents of attacks and abduction along the route has excited travellers.

It would be recslled that months ago there have been incidents of abduction and attacks of travellers along the busy road by insurgents.

A cross section of motorists and commuters who spoke to NAN on Saturday in Maiduguri said the improved safety was a big relief that deserved commendation for security personnel and all those involved in the development.

“I want to first of all thank God for this positive development, I will continue to pray for all the people God used in bringing this relief, particularly the military and other security agencies.

“The Federal and Borno State Governments also deserve commendation and prayers for their sustained support to security personnel to ensure safety on the road.
