Many Abducted As Terrorists Attack Muslims Breaking Fast In Taraba

No fewer than three persons were reportedly killed while breaking their fast in a mosque in Taraba state on Tuesday.

The incident, it was gathered occurred at about 6:25 p.m in Ball Local government council of the state, was also said to have led to the abduction of several persons.

The terrorists, who stormed Baba Juli village in the council, according to an eyewitness, number over 50.

The attacked mosque, which is the popular Jummat mosque, at the time of filing this report, has become a ghost area as worshipers have continued to desert the structure for fear of further attacks.

Stressing how the terrorists took them unaware, our source, who craved anonymity, said “we were breaking our fast inside the Mosque when we started hearing gunshots and there was nothing we could do to counter the terrorists.”

While three persons were confirmed to have been killed right inside, our source also said many worshipers and villagers were abducted and taken to an unknown destination.

As of the time of filing this report, the whereabouts of the abducted persons are yet to be known as their family members have continued to urge the state government and security operatives to wade in.

The terrorists were said to have attempted to invade the village last week but were repelled by the people of the community.

Other persons from the community who admitted that the village has been under threat, want the government to fashion out ways that would assist in flushing out the hoodlums,

Confirming the report, the Police Publishing Relations Officer (PPRO) DSP Usman Abdullahi, agreed that the incident occurred, but that he is still waiting for more details from the Police Divisional Officer in the council.
