Will Smith’s personal life is set to be thrust back into the spotlight, following reports that August Alsina will discuss his relationship with Jada Pinkett Smith in an upcoming memoir.

According to reports, his memoirs are the subject of a ‘bidding war,’ with the musician expected to sign a six-figure deal.

British tabloid, The Sun reported that a source said: “August is getting ready to sign a big-money book deal which will detail his romantic liaisons with Jada. He has always maintained that Will gave him permission to sleep with Jada, something they have publicly denied.”

“August will go into detail about his time with Jada and will also speak about how he spent time living in homes owned by Will when he was away filming,” their source added. ‘Several publishers’ are bidding for the rights to his story, according to the source.

The Smith’s marriage was thrust into the spotlight two years ago when August revealed that he had a relationship with the Gotham actress while still married to Will Smith. He also claimed that he had the Oscar winner’s blessing on their brief relationship.

Will later confirmed he had briefly split with his wife at the time, responding to August’s claims during an emotional episode of Red Table Talk. “We were over,” Jada said. “As time passed, I became entangled in a different kind of relationship with August.”

“One of the things I want to clear up that was kind of swirling in the press was you giving permission, which the only person who can give permission in that particular circumstance is myself” added Pinkett-Smith.

Will Smith has stepped away from the spotlight after resigning from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences following his decision to slap comedian Chris Rock over a joke about Jada’s hair.
