One of Nigeria’s leading retail food outlets, Chicken Republic, has turned around a major public relations fiasco and become a darling of the masses with its introduction of a N500 meal of rice and egg.

Just two months ago Chicken Republic had become public enemy number one after two contract security staff were fired for joyfully dancing in the course of their duty. The security contractor managing the lads thought their conduct unseemly.

Many Nigerians, however, thought otherwise as they saw the lads basking in joy in their seemingly lowly jobs.

Knowledge of the firing aroused public anger especially on social media with many vowing never to step into the growing fast meal franchise.

Remarkably, the introduction of the N500 rice meal came with the announcement that the two teenagers fired from their job had arrived Cyprus under a scholarship programme provided by by Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, GO of Omega Power Ministry (OPM).

The introduction of the rice and egg combo sold at N500 has gotten many Nigerians excited. While many opined that it was a clean way to enjoy quality meal at affordable price, many others blamed the country’s economy as they mocked Chicken Republic for struggling to stay in business.

He wrote: “Chicken Republic has added “Rice and boiled egg” to their menu for just N500, very cheap; I love this. Anytime there’s no better mama-put nearby, I may try it out. I don’t know why some people are complaining, be happy cos at least with just N500 u can eat & collect free AC.”
