Election for 3-Man ward Ad-Hoc delegates for the PDP Ward Congress in Anambra State earlier rescheduled to hold on Sunday May 1, 2022 has been cancelled.

The cancellation of the exercise was announced in a handwritten statement issued by the chairman of the panel Jibrin Ahmed following protestations by stakeholders of the party over his failure to produce the original result sheets.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that stakeholders had faulted him alleging that it was part of a plot by a famous political godfather who reigned while Chris Ngige was in power as governor to rig the election.

After being held captive and admitting his failure to come along with the original result sheets, Ahmed was made to read out a statement signed by him and other members of the panel cancelling the ward ad-hoc delegates election.

The ward delegates election is about the most important aspect of the PDP election process as the structure is built from that exercise.

The exercise which was as in the rest of the country supposed to have taken place on Saturday, 30th April, 2022. However, the PDP ad-hoc delegates election could not be carried out as Jibrin Ahmed and his team arrived Anambra State late and called for a postponement to Sunday.

On Sunday, May 1, 2022 as stakeholders met him to mobilise ahead of the election they demanded for the original result sheets, but he claimed that it was in the hotel. Efforts to produce them after much waiting did not yield any result and the stakeholders numbering more than 2,000 held him captive at the state party secretariat until he admitted that the original result sheets were left behind in Abuja.

Some party stakeholders alleged that the result sheets were left in the custody of a godfather who once reigned over the state during the Chris Ngige era.

Announcing the cancellation of the exercise after the intervention of Valentine Ozigbo, the immediate past governorship candidate who is also an aspirant for the senate in Anambra South, Ahmed said:

“We humbly wish to state that the 3 ad-hoc delegate election originally scheduled to hold on Saturday April 20, 2022 and was later rescheduled by the chairman of the committee do to his late arrival from Abuja is hereby cancelled owing to the unavailability of the original result sheets which was (were) supposed to be produced by the chairman of the committee.
