Tinubu Abe over Amaechi

Frontline governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Senator Magnus Abe, has opened up on why he turned his back on Rotimi Amaechi and other presidential aspirants and rather chose Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to fly the party’s flag.

Speaking on Thursday at the Captain Elechi Amadi Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, while addressing APC members during a consultation visit to stakeholders in Port Harcourt City and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas of the State he said that Tinubu was the only one among the presidential aspirants capable of keeping the party together after the exit of President Muhammadu Buhari.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Amaechi and Abe had been political soul mates from their time together in the Rivers State House of Assembly, through the time of the Amaechi era as governor when Abe served as Secretary to the Government and up till when Abe was elected to the Senate with the support of Amaechi.

However, both fell apart just before the 2019 General Election when Amaechi reportedly backed another aspirant leading to the disqualification of the party from fielding candidates in Rivers State.

He also declared that the party’s national leader and presidential aspirant, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the only one in the party that can deliver the killer-punch that will keep the party in power after President Muhammadu Buhari.

Giving the reason he chose Tinubu over Amaechi and others, Abe said:

He said: “I have told you people that I am supporting Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu and the reason I am supporting him is simple. I have looked at all those who want to run and I have looked at all those who claimed they have done this or that.

“And I saw that Asiwaju is the person in the APC that can deliver the killer-punch that will keep the party in power after Buhari. That is why I followed him.”

He also advised party members to choose wisely in the forthcoming governorship primaries of the party.
