Ronaldo player of the month award

Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo has been named as the Premier League’s Player of the month for April. The Portuguese scooped the award ahead of a list of worthy contenders including Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-Min and Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored five goals in four games including a scintillating hat-trick against Norwich to give United a 3-2 win, and has been rewarded for his relentless performances with this his second player of the month award in the 2021-22 campaign.

The veteran has now won six Premier League Player of the month awards, making him the player with the most of that award in Manchester United history and only one behind Harry Kane and Sergio Aguero (7) as the player with the most in the competition’s history.

Although the 37-year-old has scored nine of Manchester United’s last 11 goals but his influence has not proved to be enough as the Red Devils failed to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season.

However, on a personal basis, Ronaldo is in contention for the Golden boot with 18 goals as he is currently behind only Mohamed Salah and Son Heung-Min as the highest goal scorers this season.

Manchester United may be in shreds at the moment but their iconic No. 7 continues to prove his worth as he looks to depart Old Trafford next season in order to avoid missing out on Champions League football for the first time in 20 years.
