Wike, Others, React As Former AG Wins Rivers PDP Guber Primary

Reactions have been trailing the emergence of Siminialayi Fabura, the former Rivers State Accountant-General, AG who was declared wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state. 

Recall that Mr Fubara, was declared wanted by the anti-graft agency over alleged N435 billion fraud. This came shortly after his resignation as the state Accountant-General to focus on his governorship ambition.

He polled 721 votes to defeat a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Isaac Kamalu, who scored 86, at the primary election of the party held in Port Harcourt.

Reacting to the development, the outgoing governor of the state, Nyesom Wike said that with the victory of Mr. Fubara, Rivers PDP now has a candidate that will fly its flag in the 2023 governorship election.

“I never knew I’ll be governor when I became governor. You have also heard what the candidate said that he never knew he will become PDP candidate.

“But to the glory of God he is the candidate of PDP. This is because power comes from God. Whoever God says will be, will be.”

Governor Wike pointed out that when it comes to producing the governor of the state, all tribes need to work together on it because no one particular tribe can do it alone.

Governor Wike said because his administration has performed credibly well in the State, any candidate that the party presents will easily win in the 2023 general election.

However, the victory of the former Rivers AG has stirred massive reactions from social media users who could not help but wonder how a wanted person could still be engaged in political activities.
