Ekweremadu Labour Party

Senator Ike Ekweremadu has dismissed as unfounded reports in some sections of the media to the effect that he has joined Labour Party, LP.

Ekweremadu in a statement late on Friday said that the information should be disregarded as it was not true.

GWGNG reports that the speculation came in the wake of the revelation that Mr Peter Obi who recently resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP had joined Labour Party.

Denying the speculations in a terse statement made available to GWGNG and issued by Ekweremadu’s special adviser on media, Uche Anichukwu, the former deputy president of the Senate said:

Our attention has been drawn to an online misinformation to the effect that former Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, has joined the Labour Party.

This is false and should be disregarded.

The statement came in the wake of the crisis in the Enugu State chapter of the PDP following the reported resort to undemocratic practices in the election of the three man ad-hoc delegates who were used in the election of the party’s governorship candidate.

GWGNG reports that Ekweremadu had shortly before the commencement of the governorship primaries pulled away from the exercise and asked his supporters to wait further directives.

That directive was yet to be given as at Friday night and hence the statement by Ekweremadu to his supporters to disregard the report that he had joined Labour Party.
