Supporters of Labour Party presidential aspirant, Peter Obi have differed on the congratulatory message their man sent to Atiku Abubakar, following his emergence as the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the 2023 election.

GWGNG reports that the former President, Atiku Abubakar was declared the winner and presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party after emerging the winner of the party’s presidential primary that was held at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abuja.

Reacting to Atiku’s victory, via a tweet on Sunday, Obi, who recently dumped PDP for Labour Party, described Atiku as his leader and elder brother.

He further prayed for God’s blessings on him while congratulating him for his victory.

He said, “On behalf of my family, I sincerely congratulate my leader and dear elder brother, H.E #atiku, on his emergence as the 2023 presidential flag bearer of the #OfficialPDPNig. I pray that the Almighty God who sees your goodness will continue to bless you now and always. -PO.”

Obi’s message has stirred mixed reactions from social media users as many hailed PO for always being a peace lover while many opined that he made a mistake by congratulating his opponent and calling him a leader which mean he has indirectly endorsed him.

GWGNG gathered reactions of Peter Obi’s supporters on the[tps_footer][/tps_footer] congratulatory message to Atiku:

@shy_shye: If it were to be Tinubu to Buhar or Atikui, the remarks here would have be different. ?

@johntheprince7: I don’t think he knows what he did by congratulating Atiku at this stage. He was pressured into doing it by the likes of Reno.

He has indirectly endorsed Atiku without knowing. If Atiku is a great leader that God should bless, then Atiku is good to become president

@abuchifineface: Peter Obi understands this politics.

There’s no perm enemy in politics. Both aspirants are versatile moguls and friends outside politics.

I respect them.

@shallyglam: A true man of honor ?

@kentdavid687: Another bad decision for PDP,1 another Northerner can’t rule us again,2 this guy is a political prostitute who ve been jumping from one party to another in desperate need of power,wen he wins he’ll want  to gain all his previous losses,he’ll not ve d time to build let’s be wise.
