Why Nollywood Can’t Compete With Hollywood – Niyi Akinmolayan

‘Chief Daddy’ movie director, Niyi Akinmolayan has advised Nigerian filmmakers who are struggling to compete with Hollywood movies to stop fighting a lost battle saying they can never reach their target with the kind of meagre budget they have.

The filmmaker stated this on Tuesday via his Twitter handle while analysing the financing gap between the industries and the pressure from streaming services to want to rival films with bigger budgets.

“Your film will never look like a Hollywood film with that your Nollywood budget. Stop struggling and pressuring the crew till they break. It has nothing to do with u or ur good intentions. All this “we can compete with Hollywood” will only stress you. Do the best u can with what you have,” Akinmolayan wrote.

“A Hollywood studio can reshoot half of the movie just because someone doesn’t like something. They can tweak till it’s perfect. My dear…it’s called Money. You are not doing bad. You just don’t have money to make your film perfect,” Niyi Akinmolayan stated in comparing the standards between Hollywood and Nigeria’s Nollywood movie sectors.

Meanwhile, the assertions by Niyi Akinmolayan came as popular Nollywood actress, Annie Idibia has taken to her social media handle to caution bloggers to stop causing conflicts between her seven kids while stating that she loves her husband and all his seven children.

Recall that the actress had made headlines yesterday following speculations that she unfollowed her husband on Instagram which she later claimed was caused by an Instagram glitch.

The actress has warned bloggers about peddling false news about her and revealed that same way she loves her husband is the same way she loves all seven kids of his.

Annie also threatened that legal actions would be taken soon.
