New Light On Ekwermadu Case As Donor’s True Age Emerges

In a major development to the organ transplant saga that landed Senator Ike Ekweremadu in police custody in the United Kingdom, it has emerged that the age of the proposed donor at the centre of the controversy, David Ukpo Nwamini is actually 21 years, contrary to the 15 years that he reportedly claimed before the Metropolitan Police.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Senator Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested by the British Police after he was alleged to have brought a minor, Nwamini to the United Kingdom for organ harvesting. The issue arose from the bid by the Ekweremadus to get a donor for their sick child who is suffering from kidney failure.

Ekweremadu had written the United Kingdom High Commission ahead of the visit and backed Nwamini’s visa application on the claim that he was coming to the United Kingdom for medical investigation in regards to an organ transplant.

However, it emerged that the boy was not suitable and the narrative is that he claimed that he was 15 and was trafficked to the United Kingdom by the Ekweremadus.

However, evidence now available through his travelling passport has shown that Nwamini is actually 21, having been born on October 12, 2000.

There are also insinuations that he is a distant relative of Mrs Ekweremadu, a claim that GreenWhiteGreen GWG has not been able to confirm.

However, the affirmation of his age as 21 is expected to puncture the claim that the proposed donor told the police, an issue that set in motion the arrest of Ekweremadu and his wife by the Metropolitan Police.

Meanwhile, both political allies and foes of Ekweremadu have continued to express support for him with many asking for justice for the former deputy president of the Senate with many affirming that the fact that he backed the visa application of the donor put him in good stead.
