GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that gunmen invaded the priest’s residence while he was preparing for mass.

Until his death, Odia was a priest at St Michael Church, Ikabigbo.

Confirming his death, Fr. Peter Egielewa, Director of Social Communications, Catholic Diocese of Auchi, said Odia was 41 years old.

”With heavy hearts but with total submission to the will of God, we announce the death of our priest Rev. Fr. Christopher Odia, who was killed by his abductors after being kidnapped this morning 26th June 2022 at about 6.30am in his rectory while coming out to go for Sunday Mass at St. Michael Catholic Church Ikabigbo, Uzairue, Edo State”

Until he was kidnapped and killed, the Catholic priest was the Administrator of St Michael Catholic Church, Ikabigbo and also the Principal of St Philip Catholic Secondary School Jattu, Edo State.

The abduction and killing of the catholic priests has sparked massive reactions from social media users who could not hold back their emotions. The killing of Father Odia came the same weekend that another Catholic priest, Rev Father Christian Emmanuel was also killed by terrorists in Kaduna.

Many wondered why the Catholic Church has becoming a target of kidnappers and murders across the country.

See reactions below:

@etoagwara: Why is Catholic Church their target? But whatever they do, the church of God will continue to stand

@uzoanazodo: Why are Catholic faithfuls seemingly being targeted by criminal elements ?

@dikebasil1: Touch not my anointed and do my prophet no harm. That is an instruction from God Himself. God will fight His fight

@hyginusalegu: This is a tragedy!

Government officials are always focused on sharing the public funds and never concerned about the lives and livelihood of the citizens.

What a damnable republic!

@nwitelkechukwu3: Another emissary of the Roman Catholic church murdered in cold blood and all the @Pontifex will send is condolences and condemnations. If you can’t defend the right of your delegates why send them on any mission , I pity black Africa but the land and people worldwide.

@de_lexon: Yet if nigerians see pastors with heavy security, they lambast dem…saying “so they don’t bliv God can protect them bla bla bla”…

Shay y’all have seen now?

Hypocrites.

RIP Padre
