Interior minister, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has removed comments on his social media handles where he had philosophically used the bible to intone that God was the one who caused his successor and one time aide, Governor Gboyega Oyetola to lose the Osun State governorship election on Saturday.

The minister in a follow-up to the controversy dogging the reaction said that he did not authorize the comments that were published.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that hours after Oyetola was declared to have lost the election that Aregbesola had drawn reference from the bible and allegedly posted that God is the one who gives and takes power from men.

Quoting from Daniel 4:17 he had supposedly posted:

The now deleted post read; ā€œOsun Le Tente. This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men. ā€“ (Daniel 4:17)ā€.

However, a few hours later, the Media Adviser to the minister, Sola Fasure in a tweet on the ministerā€™s verified Twitter handle disowned the comments which were subsequently deleted.

He said:

ā€œIt has come to the attention of the media office of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, that an unauthorized message was posted on his Verified Twitter & Facebook Pages at about 8:00am on Sunday 17th July, 2022.

ā€œThe unauthorized messages have now been deleted. Members of the public, especially the media, are advised to ignore!ā€, Fasure stated.

GreenWhiteGreen had reported that Aregbesola was unusually absent during the election and was reported to have travelled out of the country on an official assignment.

He had also claimed that he was not a member of the campaign council and had not been invited to play any role in the election.

Aregbesola and Oyetola had fallen out a year or so after the new governor came to power.
