Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu should be disqualified according to pleas by Nwajiuba

Confusion over the prospects of the 2023 presidential election erupted at the weekend following a court action instigated by immediate past Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba for the disqualification of the duo of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar from the 2023 presidential poll.

The court action against Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential candidate and Tinubu, the All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidate was filed before a Federal High Court in Abuja and seeks to disqualify them from contesting.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Nwajiuba was one of the contestants in the APC presidential primary held on June 8 and polled one vote.

Tinubu had defeated 13 other aspirants, including Nwajiuba and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to clinch the APC ticket, polling 1,271 votes to beat his closest rival, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, who got 316 votes.

Nwajiuba filed the suit alongside a group, Incorporated Trustees of Rights for All International.

Attached to the suit was a video showing Amaechi who was second in the convention lamenting that delegates were lured with money.  The applicants accused Tinubu of bribing delegates with dollars.

The  defendants in the case with suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/942/22 are the APC, the PDP, Tinubu, Atiku, the Attorney-General of the Federation, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Political stakeholders were being left in confusion as to the purpose of the suit by Nwajiuba against Tinubu and Atiku especially given that the former minister was one of those speculated to be in the good books of President Muhammadu Buhari as a potential successor.
