Why Atiku, Wike Meeting Was Cancelled

Atiku Wike Mockery

A truce meeting between Atiku Abubakar and Nyesom Wike earlier shifted for Monday was cancelled after the outgoing Rivers State governor returned from his foreign trip and called the presidential candidate a liar over issues between them.

Sources embedded within the Atiku camp disclosed that the meeting became unrealistic following the hardened position that came from the Wike camp as demonstrated in the governor’s remarks on his return at the airport last weekend.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that Wike in his interview had accused Atiku of telling lies in his interview with Arise Tv though he didn’t specify the lies of the candidate.

A source close to Wike while justifying the claims by the Rivers State governor said that it was necessary for him to speak his mind lest the lies as supposedly told by Atiku would be seen as facts.

Atiku, Wike Meeting Unrealistic Before BoT Meeting

Speaking at the weekend, an associate of Atiku’s said that the meeting became unrealistic after the Wike interview.

“There is no way I will support the meeting of Monday after he has called Atiku a liar. No, it is not possible.”

Another source disclosed that the meeting was shelved to allow the Board of Trustees, BoT meet with the two feuding sides and come up with proposals at the meeting of the BoT on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, ahead of the rescheduled meeting with Atiku, state co-ordinators of the Wike Presidential Campaign Council, after a meeting with Wike, on Sunday, resolved to, among other things, remain in the PDP, Vanguard deposed in a report published on Tuesday.

The newspaper, however, reported that the Wike Camp has hammered out a list of demands to be presented for peace.

Among the demands are that Atiku should agree to do one term, if elected; for the National Chairman of the PDP, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu to quit for a Southerner to take his position and for the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives.
