The presiding judge also sentenced the accused to life imprisonment on the charge of rape preferred against him.

GreenWhiteGreen GWG reports that after the court ruling, Akpan attempted to run out of the court premises but was nabbed by the police.

Three persons were arraigned for the murder of Iniubong, their names are; Uduak-Abasi Akpan, Frank Akpan and Anwan-Bassey Akpan, who are the first, second and third accused persons.

The father of the first accused was charged as an accomplice in the murder, while his sister was charged with accessory because she harboured her brother in her residence in Calabar in a bid to assist him to escape justice.

The court, however, discharged and acquitted Frank Akpan and Anwan-Bassey Akpan, the second and third accused persons.

Reacting to the development, Nigerians took to their handles to air their opinion on the judgement.

See some of the reactions below.

@lilshizzy5: Meeen, some people are just so heartless why in heaven will you kill a fellow human being ( he is so heartless kill her) the judgement was really good, I’m really so fine with it, if we still have other people like him…. They should learn from this.

@drrealvicthor: My one and only desire is that the death should be made public. Let the public be a witness or let it be televised. They could lie that they’ve hung him and he goes ghost forever while living freely. This is Nigeria, that’s why I have trust issues.

@mrkai711500: Nice one. This should be a lesson to others. I think is right time to bring up Otega next. Murder by Chidinma we haven’t forgotten that.

@dboringhustler: Justice has only been served halfway. His death would mean that a lot of high connected people who did the evil with him will walk free as they weren’t implicated??
