The commissioner was appointed in December 2021 by Governor Abdullahi Sule but it is understood he has no police orderly or an official car since his appointment, leaving him to use a private car.

It was reported that the commissioner was kidnapped after the gunmen trailed him to Lafia, the state capital, after closing from work.

He was kidnapped in front of his house and whisked away to an unknown destination.

Mohammed, who was a primary school teacher before his appointment, comes to work in Lafia from Nasarawa Eggon every day.

The kidnap of the commissioner has created tension in Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area and its environs.

Reacting to the kidnap of the commissioner on Wednesday, Shehu via his Twitter handle condemned the act and urged Nigerians to pray for the commissioner.

“The abduction of Nasarawa state commissioner for information, Mr Yakubu Lawal is unfortunate. Let’s keep him and others in our prayers.” he wrote.
