The photos shared by Soccernet, showed how the Falconets, two-time FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup finalists who left Costa Rica on Monday, slept on the bare floor and chairs at the Istanbul Airport after staying at the airport for a long period. GWG understands they were unable to get transit visas to leave the airport after spot for 24 hours.

A source with the team revealed that, “The situation got worsened by the fact that they had no transit visa to enable them secure accommodation.”

GWG recalls that, this is not the first time the team have endured similar humiliating circumstances.

Prior to the incident of the Falconets sleeping at the Istanbul airport, few weeks before their departure from Abuja, Nigeria’s capital to the tournament, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) abandoned them, a situation that forced both players and officials to walk to the venue of their training.

Besides, there are mutterings that the team members are yet to get their match bonuses though that has not been confirmed.
