‘You can’t muzzle me’, Wike tells PDP cabal

Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike has warned the cabal in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that a day of divine judgment is on the horizon when they must give account of themselves and of their schemings.

“Don’t … think that you can muzzle me,” he fired off at the PDP national leadership headed by National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu, who reneged on his promise to step down for a Southerner and is boasting about staying put – which angers Wike.

Atiku Abubakar from Adamawa in the North East got the ticket, against the PDP constitution which stipulates power rotation to the South in this election cycle.

Ayu pledged before the PDP presidential primary in May that if a Northerner got the ticket, he would step down for a Southerner to take his post, to ensure fairness and justice.

Even Northern PDP big wigs have criticised the situation where all the party’s top positions are occupied by Northerners – PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman, Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, National Chairman, and presidential candidate.

Wike has taken up the mantle to fight against the unfairness, and he reiterated in the latest missile that nobody can silence him from speaking against such injustice and demanding the right thing be done.

Day of judgment

Wike spoke at the commissioning of Emohua Campus of Rivers State University and staff quarters, which was performed by Oyo Governor Seyi Makinde, per The PUNCH.

He warned PDP cabal members they will account for every wrong thing they have done when the day of reckoning comes.

“That is why I am telling the people there, look, it cannot work. You can’t take everything. If you take everything, it will purge you. So you better do the right thing now,” Wike said.

“Don’t sit there and think that you can muzzle me and you can do everything; you can manipulate anything. You can think you have the numbers to make sure you take everything, but the time is coming when you will account for it.”

He insisted the delivery of quality projects by him and his colleague Governors will serve the PDP well in the states.

He argued it will be erroneous for PDP states that have failed to provide good governance to solicit votes from the electorate.

Makinde while commissioning the projects made reference to the recent statement by Ayu that those calling for his resignation were still children when he and others founded the party.

“If children are doing all of these, I think what Nigeria needs are children. So, my brother Wike, you can be assured that Nigeria appreciates you,” Makinde said.
