Senator Ifeanyi Ubah Escapes As Three Police Escorts Die In Gunmen Attack

Senator Ifeanyi Ubah escaped with bullet wounds but at least three police escorts in his convoy were not so lucky when they were attacked by unknown gunmen at Enugwu Ukwu in Njikoka local government area of the state on Sunday.

The fate of Senator Ubah the Young Peoples Party, YPP national leader who is also the incumbent senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District was still unknown as at about 10.00 p.m. on Sunday.

Vanguard quoted an eye witness as saying that the senator was injured in the attack in which was described as an assassination attempt on the Young Peoples Party, YPP, senator.

The eyewitness said: “Ifeanyi Ubah’s convoy came under attack in Enugwu Ukwu this evening. He was ambushed by heavily armed men who opened fire on his convoy. Some of his aides were killed, including some police officers.

“The senator managed to escape as his car was riddled with bullets.

“I was driving up to that spot from the link road to the express when some people in a shop shouted at me and asked me to turn back and take another road, which I did”.

The state police command is yet to react on the attack and the fate of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah with the bullet wounds from the attack by the unknown gunmen could also not be confirmed.
