Many persons have been disappointed by Nigerian tailors after choosing and paying for a dress to wear on a big occasion.

Nigerian tailors are known for disappointing their customers. Sometimes, the outfit is never what you pictured, other times, they are notoriously late.

Here’s why your tailor will always get your style wrong and also why you are likely to get the ‘what I ordered vs got’ outfit ;

1. Don’t pay her/him peanuts

You saw the outfit on an influencer/actress who paid about N200,000 for the gown, but you want to do the same for you for N2,000.

First of all, your tailor will not have any motivation to sew it well. When they want to sew a nice replica for you, they would remember the amount you offered and purposely sew rubbish.

2. Don’t buy the wrong fabric

Half of fashion design is fabric, some styles are unattainable if you don’t get the right fabric. If your tailor can’t get the design you want, it’s probably because the fabric can’t make the style with it.

3. Have the right body for the outfit

Clothes look better on you based on your body type. If the model or celebrity has a certain shape, you shouldn’t expect it would fit you the same way. So, think of what fits your body well.

4. Don’t go to just any tailor

Let’s face it, not all tailors are experts at the styles you want them to do, and there is no point having blind faith in them. It’s much easier to use a tailor who a friend or someone you know has recommended.

5. Don’t tell the tailor the exact date you need the outfit

When it comes to Nigerian tailors, always lie about when you need the cloth, always say you want it a month before you need it because they will never start right on time.
