Tobi Amusan Reacts To Allegation Her Shoes Helped Her Set World Record
Popular World record holder Tobi Amusan has reacted to the rumour making the rounds that her shoes helped her make history at the World Athletics Championship in Eugene, Oregon, USA back in July.
Since running the 100m hurdles in 12.12 seconds in the semi-finals of the tournament, Amusan has had to deal with critics.

The 25-year-old told BBC Pidgin in an interview published on Tuesday, October 11 that she does not understand where the allegation of super power shoes were coming from.
“I don’t understand people! I wore those same shoes when I lost the last time, so why didn’t they talk at that time? Why is it that they decided to talk when I used it to run fast?” She asked.
Tobi Amusan added, “Well, let them keep talking. The shoes are Superman shoes right? The shoes were given to everybody for the race and they were the same shoes I wore so there is no problem.”
Amusan also recently reacted to comments by retired American athlete Michael Johnson shortly after she broke the world record. Johnson had said he believed the race time were incorrect.
Amusan, who rose through the ranks after her humble beginning in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, said in an interview with Beats FM, “Because I’ve been on the circuit, he’s seen me run. I wouldn’t get mad at him because the person they expect to actually break the world record did not, so coming from a black girl from Nigeria just got them really worked up, so they got to deal with it.”
