Liz Truss: Russia Mocks Catastrophic Illiterate

French President Emmanuel Macron has said it was important that Britain found “stability as soon as possible”, just as Russia mocked the departing British Prime Minister Liz Truss as a catastrophic Illiterate.

“We want stability above all,” Macron told reporters as he arrived at the European Union summit in Brussels.

“I am always saddened to see a colleague leave,” he added.

Another reaction describes the outgoing Prime Minister as a “catastrophically illiterate” disgrace.

Russia’s foreign ministry welcomed British Prime Minister Truss’ departure on Thursday, calling her a disgrace of a leader who would be remembered for her “catastrophic illiteracy.”

“Britain has never known such a disgrace of a prime minister,” said Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova.

The claim of illiteracy, however, appears to refer to Truss’ visit to Moscow shortly before Russia invaded Ukraine while she was British Foreign Secretary.

She appeared to confuse two regions of Russia with Ukraine during a meeting with Russia’s veteran foreign minister, Sergei Lavrov, prompting mockery from the Russian diplomat and across Russian state TV talk shows.

GWG.NG reports that Liz Truss resigned, succumbing to the inevitable after a turbulent six-week term in which her policies caused financial market turmoil and a rebellion in her party obliterated her authority.

Truss will resign as Conservative leader immediately, but she will remain Prime Minister for another week while her party chooses her replacement.

Truss had only been in office for seven weeks, one of the shortest tenures in British political history.
