Governor Nyesom Wike has vowed to always fight for his convictions in the midst of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, crisis.

Wike claimed that he will always resist being overpowered because he is not a born-again Christian.

He made the remarks at the birthday party for his Abia State counterpart, Okezie Ikpeazu.

Wike described Ikpeazu as a quiet man who observes the Bible verse that when “they slap you, turn the other cheek.”

Wike, however, said that if anyone slaps him, he would unlike Ikpeazu retaliate rather than turn the other cheek.

“Ikpeazu is a quiet man and a born-again Christian; I am not a born-again Christian,” he explained. I’m a Christian, but not a saved Christian.

“I told Ikpeazu; they said if they slap you, turn the other side, but I don’t know if I’d survive the other side if you slap me here.” So I’m going to blow your head off.”

Wike has been dissatisfied with the PDP’s leadership since Atiku Abubakar was announced as the party’s presidential candidate. Wike vowed to fight anyone who loos for his trouble.

With Atiku as the PDP’s presidential candidate, Wike has called for the resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The governor argued that the PDP’s presidential candidate and National Chairman should not be chosen from a single region.

Wike, Ikpeazu, Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, and Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde have all called for Ayu’s removal.
