Man Jumps Into Lagos Lagoon After Being Accused Of Stealing
A man who is yet to be identified has been captured in a viral video jumping into a river in Lagos State after being accused of stealing.
According to GWG, the man committed suicide on Saturday night at the Idumota Bridge on Lagos Island.
Ngozi Blessing, a Facebook user, shared videos of the man addressing some onlookers and jumping into the river.
Blessing claimed in the post that the man committed suicide because he was falsely accused of stealing a large sum of money, which he denied knowing about.
“He was saying in oyinbo that they framed him that he stole a huge amount of money which he did not and they said they gave him 24 hours to refund the money and he did not steal and for him to eat once in a day is a problem that where did he want to get that kind of money from within 24 hours so he is tired of life and he jumped down the bridge, it happened yesterday night at Idumota bridge in Lagos island,” Blessing I’m sick of this country; the man has squandered his life.”
One of the men in one of the videos explained to onlookers that he decided to end his life because he was fed up with being accused of stealing money he couldn’t afford to repay.
Despite going to the police station to prove his innocence, the man was still told to find a way to repay the money.
“Where I was living, they accused me of stealing, and I told them I wasn’t the one who stole it,” the man was quoted as saying. I was detained by police and asked to give my side of the story. Regardless, they threatened to kill me.”
Onlookers’ pleas to stop the man from committing suicide were futile, as he jumped into the river.
