Former Governor Willie Obiano has denied reports of asking funds and other support from his successor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo for his wife to prosecute a challenging Senate contest against two formidable challengers in their Anambra North Senatorial District.

Obiano spoke in response to rumours of a beef between him and Soludo over claims that the incumbent governor has refused to give financial funding and other support to his wife, Mrs Obiano who is the senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APGA in the forthcoming election in Anambra North.

GWG.NG reports that Mrs Obiano is locked in a stiff challenge with the PDP’s incumbent Senator Stella Oduah against Dr Tony Nwoye of Labour Party for the Anambra North Senate seat.

Reacting to the rumours of a beef between him and Obiano over his wife’s Senate bid, Obiano through a press statement by his Publicist, Mr Tony Nezianya said:

‘’I never raised any issues concerning campaign funding for my wife, who is seeking a seat in the Senate to represent Anambra North.

‘’I never granted an interview over such a matter. The author of such a verse is on a mischievous venture with an aim at causing disharmony, he does not have my authorisation.

‘’I state unequivocally that whoever did that is a mischief maker.”

‘’I have not at any fora expressed misgivings about him (Soludo). I never said to anyone or a group that I am disappointed in him.

‘’I never said anything like that. I did not at any point discuss my wife’s funding with anyone. That clearly shows the comment is false, and the handiwork of a fake news vendor.

‘’I have confidence that Gov. Soludo will live up to the high expectations of Ndi Anambra,” Obiano concluded in denying the reports of a clash over the wife’s senate bid.
