Omo-Agege third Senate term

He is the son of foremost Chief Judge of Delta State, His Lordship, Honourable Justice James Omo-Agege and renowned chartered accountant in the government of the old Bendel State, Princess Francesca Okwendo-Wanogho, both now of blessed memory.

He is an alumnus of the University of Benin where he read Law.

He is a Solicitor and Advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria having been called to the Nigerian Bar in 1986.

He is also a Solicitor and Advocate of the United States Supreme Court having been admitted to the State of California Bar in 1992, and where he remains a member in good standing.

He obtained a Master of Law degree with distinction from Tulane University Law School, New Orleans, USA in 2002.

In 1993, he established the Law Firm of Agege & Esin in California with his dear wife, Barr. Rosemary Iman Esin, an American-trained lawyer.

He has broad legal practice and research experience/interest in constitutional law, criminal litigations, electoral law, international payments, actions under the US Foreign Sovereign Immunity Act (FSIA), commercial arbitration, admiralty and marine law, and lawmaking.

In 2003, be became the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State, and had wide and special responsibilities, including formulation, implementation, and coordination of government policies; and monitoring and appraisal of the State Executive Council decisions. Some called him ‘Assistant Governor’ due to his excellent work on this role.

In 2005, he became Delta’s Commissioner for Special Duties, and coordinated the work of the State Executive Council to help the Governor deliver on his electoral mandate.

In 2007, he became the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) in Delta.

He was first elected to the Senate in 2015, but was sworn in in 2016 as a Senator having put up a brilliant legal challenge to reclaim his electoral victory.

He was re-elected to the Senate in 2019, and on May 11, 2019, he was elected against all odds as the Deputy President of the 9th Senate of Nigeria as a Presiding Officer.

As the Deputy President of the Nigerian Senate, he is the 5th highest elected political leader of Nigeria.

He is a recent recipient of the high Presidential National Honour of the Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic, CFR.

He is also a recipient of several awards in recognition of his sterling leadership qualities, the latest being the Justice Development and Peace Commission award for his role in the enactment of the celebrated Electoral Act, 2022, which is instilling election confidence in Nigerians.

He is the gubernatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC seeking office to become the Governor of Delta State by 29th May, 2023.

He has developed a robust manifesto and plan to govern Delta State. His ‘EDGE’ to ‘BAND’ agenda is a well-articulated governance document that inspires hope and confidence in a new Delta State where leadership will be visionary, innovative, bold and inclusive.

This is our Ovie Omo-Agege, in summary. He is eminently qualified and standing tall in all ramifications for the office he seeks.

We ask Deltans to support and vote for *Senator Ovie Omo-Agege* to be the next Governor of Delta State. It is the right thing to do.

Now, let Deltans meet the governorship candidates of the other political parties, please.

*Let us have a respectful conversation on the future of our State, starting with the leadership content of those who seek to lead us. *
